1. Network Management Framework

As shown in the following figure, the network management architecture proposed in this memo consists of several components:

In this architecture, each network entity contains an SNMP agent which provides a standard interface to the entity's MIB (Management Information Base). The manager (NMS) communicates with agents via the SNMP protocol in order to retrieve or modify management information.
