RFC 9927 - Fixing the C-Flag in the Extended Address Registration Option (EARO)
- Status: Proposed Standard
- Published: February 2026
- Stream: IETF
- Errata: No Errata
Abstract
This document fixes the definition and processing of the C-Flag in the Extended Address Registration Option (EARO). EARO is used with IPv6 Neighbor Discovery (IPv6 ND) for address registration, especially in constrained-network environments. The update clarifies how nodes interpret the C-Flag so that IPv6 ND implementations can interoperate consistently when registering or renewing addresses.
