Abstract​

This document specifies Version 3 of the RFC Editor Model. The model defines two high-level tasks for the RFC Series: policy definition by the RFC Series Working Group (RSWG) and the RFC Series Approval Board (RSAB), and policy implementation primarily by the RFC Production Center (RPC) under contractual oversight by the IETF Administration Limited Liability Company (IETF LLC).

It also describes how RFC Editor function responsibilities are performed by the RSWG, RSAB, RPC, RFC Series Consulting Editor (RSCE), and IETF LLC, and it specifies the Editorial stream for future policy definition documents.
