6. Connecting to an Agent

Agents are exposed through a connection-oriented endpoint. Unix-like systems commonly use a filesystem-based Unix domain socket. Microsoft Windows commonly uses a Windows Named Pipe.

Endpoint access SHOULD be controlled as discussed in Section 10. The endpoint is commonly exposed through the SSH_AUTH_SOCK environment variable, though implementations MAY use an implicit default per-user location.
