Abstract​

This document describes an alternative experimental approach for applying the Alternate-Marking Method to Segment Routing for IPv6 (SRv6). It uses an experimental TLV in the Segment Routing Header (SRH), so participation in this experiment is intended for coordinating parties within a controlled domain.

The approach may offer scaling and simplification benefits compared with the technique described in RFC 9343. The experiment is scoped to determine whether those benefits are significant and attractive to the community.
