Abstract

RFC 2181 clarifies several areas of the Domain Name System (DNS) specifications where implementation experience showed ambiguity or inconsistent interpretation. It covers server reply source address selection, resource record sets, zone cuts, SOA records, TTL handling, the TC header bit, authoritative names, canonical names, and DNS label syntax.
