1. Introduction (Einführung)

BGP supports transit policies via controlled distribution of routing information. Mechanisms for this are described in [1] and have been successfully used by transit service providers. However, control over the distribution of routing information is presently based on either IP address prefixes or on the value of the AS_PATH attribute (or part of it).

BGP unterstützt Transit-Richtlinien durch kontrollierte Verteilung von Routing-Informationen. Mechanismen hierfür sind in [1] beschrieben und wurden erfolgreich von Transit-Dienstanbietern eingesetzt. Allerdings basiert die Kontrolle über die Verteilung von Routing-Informationen derzeit entweder auf IP-Adresspräfixen oder auf dem Wert des AS_PATH-Attributs (oder einem Teil davon).

To facilitate and simplify the control of routing information this document suggests a grouping of destinations so that the routing decision can also be based on the identity of a group. Such a scheme is expected to significantly simplify a BGP speaker's configuration that controls distribution of routing information.

Um die Kontrolle von Routing-Informationen zu erleichtern und zu vereinfachen, schlägt dieses Dokument eine Gruppierung von Zielen vor, sodass die Routing-Entscheidung auch auf der Identität einer Gruppe basieren kann. Ein solches Schema wird voraussichtlich die Konfiguration eines BGP-Sprechers (BGP speaker), die die Verteilung von Routing-Informationen steuert, erheblich vereinfachen.
