5.1.4. MULTI_EXIT_DISC

MULTI_EXIT_DISC 是 optional non-transitive attribute, 用于外部 (inter-AS) link, 以区分到同一相邻 AS 的多个 exit point 或 entry point. MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute 的值是一个 4-octet unsigned number, 称为 metric. 在所有其他因素相同的情况下, SHOULD 优先选择 metric 较低的 exit point. 如果通过 EBGP 接收, MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute MAY 通过 IBGP 传播给同一 AS 内的其他 BGP speaker (另见 9.1.2.2). 从相邻 AS 接收的 MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute MUST NOT 传播给其他相邻 AS.

BGP speaker MUST 实现一种机制 (基于本地配置), 允许从 route 中移除 MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute. 如果 BGP speaker 被配置为从 route 中移除 MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute, 则该移除 MUST 在确定 route degree of preference 之前, 并且在 route selection 执行之前完成 (Decision Process phase 1 和 2).

implementation MAY 还可以 (基于本地配置) 修改通过 EBGP 接收的 MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute 的值. 如果 BGP speaker 被配置为修改通过 EBGP 接收的 MULTI_EXIT_DISC attribute 的值, 则该值修改 MUST 在确定 route degree of preference 之前, 并且在 route selection 执行之前完成 (Decision Process phase 1 和 2). 必要约束见 Section 9.1.2.2.
