This section preserves the RFC text for UDPSTP, including One-Way IP Capacity metrics, Control and Data phases, Load and Status Feedback PDUs, KDF/HMAC authentication, optional checksum handling, IANA registries, and security considerations.

2.  Conventions and Terminology

   The key words "MUST", "MUST NOT", "REQUIRED", "SHALL", "SHALL NOT",
   "SHOULD", "SHOULD NOT", "RECOMMENDED", "NOT RECOMMENDED", "MAY", and
   "OPTIONAL" in this document are to be interpreted as described in
   BCP 14 [RFC2119] [RFC8174] when, and only when, they appear in all
   capitals, as shown here.

   Downstream UDP Speed Test:  A client-initiated Network Capacity
      measurement between a server acting as sender and a client acting
      as receiver.

   Upstream UDP Speed Test:  A client-initiated Network Capacity
      measurement between a client acting as sender and a server acting
      as receiver.

   In this document, the term "message" and the term "Protocol Data
   Unit", or "PDU" [RFC5044], are used interchangeably.
