Appendix A. State Machine

This appendix provides a summary of the legal state transitions for the client and server handshake state machines. State names and message flows are defined in the main protocol specification.

A.1. Client State Machine

The client state machine defines the valid sequences of messages the client can send and receive during the TLS 1.3 handshake.

A.2. Server State Machine

The server state machine defines the valid sequences of messages the server can send and receive during the TLS 1.3 handshake.
