6. Sending Multicast IP Datagrams

This section specifies the extensions required to send multicast IP datagrams. Included are extensions to the IP service interface and to the IP module, and extensions to local network modules for networks that directly support IP multicasting. It is important to remember that, even if a host does not support group membership or reception of multicast datagrams, it may still send multicast datagrams.
