Questo documento afferma che quando un risolutore DNS riceve una risposta con codice di risposta 3 (Name Error o NXDOMAIN), significa che il nome di dominio richiesto non esiste e, inoltre, che non esiste alcun nome sotto di esso.

This document states that when a DNS resolver receives a response with a response code of 3 (Name Error or NXDOMAIN), it means that the domain name queried does not exist and, furthermore, that no name underneath it exists.

Questa semantica consente a un risolutore, quando riceve un codice di risposta 3 per un nome, di dedurre la risposta per qualsiasi nome sotto quel nome dalla sua cache.

This semantics allows a resolver to, when it receives a response code of 3 for a name, deduce the answer for any name underneath that name from its cache.
