6. Considerations operationnelles

Report scheduling and trigger mechanisms for new Gauges are implementation dependent. BMP operators SHOULD choose appropriate generation and delivery strategies, including configurable timing intervals and thresholds. Reporting control SHOULD be consistent with existing BMP statistic types.

Operators SHOULD rate-limit statistics updates to reduce control-plane impact, enable only necessary statistics to reduce memory and CPU overhead, and use per-router statistic subset configuration where supported. Operators should also understand that accepted count Type 23 and Adj-RIB-In count Type 21 can be identical when producers discard routes that do not match policy.
