摘要 (Abstract)

互联网消息访问协议第4版修订版1 (Internet Message Access Protocol, Version 4rev1, IMAP4rev1) 允许客户端访问和操作服务器上的电子邮件消息. IMAP4rev1 允许以功能上等同于本地文件夹的方式操作邮箱 (Mailboxes, 远程消息文件夹). IMAP4rev1 还提供了离线客户端与服务器重新同步的能力.

IMAP4rev1 包括创建, 删除和重命名邮箱, 检查新消息, 永久删除消息, 设置和清除标志, RFC 2822 和 RFC 2045 解析, 搜索, 以及选择性获取消息属性, 文本和部分内容等操作. IMAP4rev1 中的消息通过数字访问. 这些数字可以是消息序列号 (Message Sequence Numbers) 或唯一标识符 (Unique Identifiers).
