7. IANA Considerations

This document has no IANA actions.

Explanation

RFC 8899 does not require IANA to create, modify, or maintain any registries or assign any code points. All mechanisms and parameters defined in this specification are used internally within protocol implementations and do not require globally unique identifiers or registered values.

While this document itself has no IANA actions, protocols implementing DPLPMTUD may have their own IANA considerations. For example:

  • SCTP: PAD chunk types are registered in [RFC4820]
  • UDP: No new IANA registration requirements
  • QUIC: QUIC has its own independent IANA registries

Implementers should refer to the IANA considerations of their specific protocols.
