Appendix D records considerations behind alternative Diffserv codepoints. The selected DSCP value 45 balances the desire for separate queuing in existing Wi-Fi equipment with the operational need to avoid defining a priority service.

Operators may configure local alternatives, and nodes supporting NQB MUST support configurable classification. However, the standardized and IANA-assigned value for NQB behavior is DSCP 45, binary 101101.
