Appendix C. Impact on Higher Layer Protocols
NQB can improve delay, delay variation, and loss for higher-layer protocols whose traffic is smooth, low rate, and application limited. Examples include interactive media control, game synchronization, DNS, and some IoT analytics.
Protocols that are bursty, elastic, or capacity seeking should not rely on NQB marking unless their NQB-marked microflows independently satisfy Section 4. An application can have some microflows that are NQB eligible and others that are not.
