2.8. New Section 5.2.9 - GeneralizedTime

The following subsection points implementers to [RFC5280] regarding the use of GeneralizedTime.

Insert this section after Section 5.2.8 of [RFC4210]:

5.2.9. GeneralizedTime

CMP uses GeneralizedTime, as defined in Section 4.1.2.5.2 of [RFC5280], to express date and time values. Note that, as specified in [RFC5280], the seconds element is required and that the optional fractional seconds element MUST NOT be used. The seconds element and all time values MUST be expressed in Universal Coordinated Time (UTC), indicated by the "Z" at the end of the value.
