13. Extensibility Considerations

The ICE protocol is designed to be extensible. Extensions can be achieved through the following mechanisms:

  1. New candidate types: New candidate types can be defined
  2. New ICE options: New features can be added through the ICE option mechanism
  3. New STUN attributes: New STUN attributes can be defined for use in connectivity checks
