2.1. Namespace Identifier (NID)

The NID is the identifier associated with a URN namespace.

According to the ABNF, the NID must contain at least two characters and may not exceed 32 characters. It must begin and end with an alphanumeric character. It may contain only ASCII alphanumeric characters and the hyphen.
