1. Introduction

RFC 9968 reports on the IAB Next Era of Network Management Operations (NEMOPS) workshop, held online December 3-5, 2024. It follows the 2002 IAB network management workshop documented in RFC 3535, which identified 14 operator requirements and 11 recommendations that influenced NETCONF, YANG, RESTCONF, and CORECONF.

This document is an Informational workshop report. It is not an Internet Standards Track specification. The report records workshop proceedings and participant views; those views do not necessarily reflect IAB views and positions unless explicitly stated.

The NEMOPS workshop reviewed deployment outcomes since RFC 3535, gathered new operator requirements, and developed suggested action items and network management recommendations for the IETF and IRTF.
