4. Security Considerations

The introduction of IGMP snooping functionality does not alter the handling of multicast packets by the router as it does not make use of link layer information. IGMPスヌーピング機能の導入は、リンク層情報を利用しないため、ルーターによるマルチキャストパケットの処理を変更しません。

If the router requires that all Multicast Report messages be authenticated as described in section 9.4 of [IGMPv3], it will discard the forged Report message from the host inside the network in the same way that it would discard one which originates from a remote location. ルーターが[IGMPv3]のセクション9.4で説明されているようにすべてのマルチキャストレポートメッセージの認証を要求する場合、ルーターは、リモートロケーションから発信されたものを破棄するのと同じ方法で、ネットワーク内部のホストからの偽造されたレポートメッセージを破棄します。
