Sommario (Abstract)

Questo documento definisce il cifrario a flusso ChaCha20 e l'uso dell'autenticatore Poly1305, sia come algoritmi autonomi che come "modalità combinata", o algoritmo di cifratura autenticata con dati associati (Authenticated Encryption with Associated Data, AEAD).

RFC 7539, il predecessore di questo documento, era inteso come riferimento stabile e guida all'implementazione. Era un prodotto del Crypto Forum Research Group (CFRG). Questo documento unisce gli errata presentati contro RFC 7539 e aggiunge un po' di testo alla sezione delle considerazioni sulla sicurezza.
